Fall Apart Blog Tour – Guest Author – S.E. Culpepper
Today is Day Two of the Fall Apart Blog Tour and I’m really pleased to be the host. Please take some time to read the guest post from S. E. Culpepper and learn more about her new book, Fall Apart, book #4 in her Liaisons series. Be sure to enter the contest at the end for a chance to win one of the books in the Liaisons series.
Family in the Liaisons Series
I grew up in a strict, but supportive household and the love my parents bestowed on my siblings and me was a luxury that I later learned many people don’t get to experience. No family is perfect—mine certainly isn’t. We have weird and funny traditions. We all know that when dad loses his temper, it’s best to pretend to clean something so you don’t come under fire. We know that when mom decides we should listen to music, it’s going to be Tom Jones, and we’re all going to like it, or else! But, one characteristic of my own family that I try to instill in at least one character in any story I write is acceptance.
I mean, look at me. I love writing in the male/male genre. It’s a wonderful experience that gets better everyday, but there are still a lot of people out there with negative things to say about it. When I come into contact with people who have an issue with what I choose to do, and believe me, I have, I love that I can come back to my “traditional and conservative” parents, the folks who raised me to think for myself, and I get unconditional love and support. I’ve learned from them that it’s not about whom you love, what you do for a living, or what the neighbors think. It’s about being able to look at yourself in the mirror and making the world better.
In Fall Apart and the other books in the Liaisons Series, whenever I write that character, or couple of characters that epitomize acceptance, I have to smile. Acceptance doesn’t have to be a fairy tale, and it shouldn’t be.
I’m so glad my parents taught me that with their actions.

BLURB:
Dodging his ex, giving the Best Man speech, and smuggling home extra slices of wedding cake are Damon Wright’s only plans on his buddy’s wedding day. Capturing the attention of a renowned photographer with twice the sexual magnetism of James Bond doesn’t even make the list. Accustomed to a life spent keeping his head down, managing family obligations, Damon is unprepared for even a lukewarm pursuit, much less the hot, focused advances of a man like Alarik whose sophistication leaves Damon reeling.
Tired of the vapid, morally bankrupt and grasping fellows so common in his line of work, Alarik is through serving as just another step for mercenary men on the ladder to success. Damon’s kindhearted reserve excites a profound response within him, enticing him with the idea of an honest future. Compelled to dig beneath the surface in search of something lasting, Alarik can’t help but wonder if falling in love can be as easy as breathing.
Yet, fairytales don’t exist in the pace of real life; they disappear in shadow. Absorbed by the happiness of finding one another, Damon and Alarik never see the darkness coming…

I’ll never understand people that fight against those just looking for love and happiness. Can’t wait to read Fall Apart. 🙂
That accepting character can be such a relief to run into in a lot of books. Thanks for including him/her and please count me in for the drawing.
You are lucky to have such a family. Acceptance should not be so hard to have. You love who you love, people should at least respect that.

I grew up in a strict household also. Looking back, I think it helped me be more open and definitely more accepting. I hope to pass this on to my own kids one day. Thanks for this chance. I’m just starting the series but, man, I love it already. 🙂
